Scrumptious Indian at ZeeZain

Indian food is quite honestly my favourite cuisine. There are so many different variations, from vegan to meat, to spicy to creamy, and without doubt this is my go to when choosing a takeaway or deciding where to eat out.

So, when the new ZeeZain restaurant opened in the heart of South Kensington I couldn’t wait to try out their dishes and see what they had to offer. This new elegant Indian restaurant is just a minutes walk from South Kensington station and boasts beautiful decor, sophisticated lighting and dark oak tables throughout.

The family run restaurant is owned by entrepreneur Akhtar Miah, ensuring all the ingredients are locally sourced and fresh maximising the taste on all dishes. ZeeZain pride themselves on offering a perfect ambience and retreat to come and enjoy food, drinks and smoke shisha outside.

I dined with my friend so we shared a few delicious dishes. To start we tried Vegetable Pakora which consisted of sliced onion balls mixed with gram flour, blended with mild spices, herbs and deep fried and Vegetable Samosa’s which included savory stuffed pastry with mixed vegetables with sauce.

The starters were delightful. Sometimes these types of starters can be really greasy or dry, but there was the perfect balance of moisture and flavour.

Next for main we tried a selection of dishes which included the following:

Paneer Shashlik which included cubes of Indian cheese marinated in herbs and lemon juice with chutney pieces of onion, tomatoes and green pepper
Saag Aloo whcih included spinach and potatoes cooked with fresh herbs and spices

Chicken Butter Masala which included tender chicken cooked on grill with a special homemade velvety tomato sauce

(I am vegetarian, so the chicken dish was for my friend but she thoroughly enjoyed it) we also had some pilau rice and garlic naan bread.

I must mention, naan bread like this is perfect. It’s not too thick, good if you don’t want to get full on bread, full of flavour and easy to share.

There was more than enough food, we were well and truly full after the main. When it comes to portions ZeeZain are very generous so definitely come hungry!

Finally for dessert we indulged on the sweetest dishes that finished the meal off perfectly.

These included: Pistachio Indian icecream and Gulab Jamon Indian crispy doughnuts.

The doughnuts were very indulgent.

Honestly it was an exceptional meal. The staff are very attentive and quick, the ambiance of the restaurant is relaxing yet full of buzz from everyone having a nice meal. I would recommend this for a date night, catch-up with friends, a birthday or just a meal out with family.

Take a look at the restaurant here.
