Brunch at The Allegory

I love Shoreditch. Its an area buzzing of art, people and popups yet there is a haven amongst it and this is where you’ll find The Allegory. Situated in Principals place, this restaurant is a beautifully chic new hangout with incredible menus and cocktails galore.

The Allegory is the 22nd Drake & Morgan venue and from the moment you walk inside, this place is packed with sophistication and design. From masterpieces on the wall, to quirky furniture, this venue is somewhere perfect for all seasons, and time of day.

I dined here for brunch on a Saturday at 12pm, and kicked off with a London Spritz. This delicious cocktail included Tanqueray gin, cucumber, elderfower, apple, mint & soda for £8.95. It was refreshing and fruity, perfect for something light to have with brunch (it also looked pretty too). Drinks like this are perfect when dining with friends as it’s quite a big drink, giving you time to chat and enjoy it. I had two of these!

Onto the food, which is the best bit right?! I normally choose the same kinds of food when I go for brunch, so this time decided on something different and it definitely paid off.

I chose to have a FULL VEGGIE (8.95), which included eggs any style, beans, buttered spinach, mushrooms, avocado, grilled tomato & hashbrowns. Mine actually didn’t come with beans and the avocado was not as ripe as I would normally like but it all worked well together and tasted delicious. The portion was big too, which is important. Yes, that was in bold, yes it annoys me when portions are teeny tiny haha.

The other dishes pictured below include Blueberry pancakes and maple syrup (£7.95) and Eggs Florentine (£4.50). My friends ordered these, but they looked scrumptious.

I think the price of food is reasonable for the amount you get, and the ambiance of the place itself pays for the bill. The Allegory is perfect for all occasions, and I can imagine in summer the outdoor seating would be lovely. This place is tucked away enough so it’s not disturbed by traffic or the buzz of this busy area.

The staff are attentive and friendly, happy to help with anything – even when I changed my mind about my food order (promise I am not normally difficult, it was very embarrassing).
