Brunch at The Schoolhouse

The Schoolhouse in Clapham is like taking a trip down memory lane, and one trip I definitely recommend taking for your foodie fix. This school-themed restaurant not only offers the most scrumptious dishes, but childhood nostalgia. Its revised with an abundance of board-games and old school memorabilia which really adds to the atmosphere.

Situated a short work from Clapham Junction, this restaurant is a popular favourite, so my partner and I dined here on a Sunday morning, which even then was busy. From Friday to Sunday, all food orders get 50% off before 10:30am, which is bloody brilliant. I do love a weekend lay in, but this is something to definitely get me out of bed.

I recommend the fresh orange juice, it’s so delicious!

The Schoolhouse offers a range of brunch options served from 9am-4pm, including all of the brunch favourites. I am obsessed with pancakes, so these were a definite when ordering. The side dish includes two large fluffy pancakes and maple syrup for £3.95. They are sweet but full of flavour, and this side dish complimented our meal.

My main dish was called Mr Benedict, which included two English muffins, poached eggs and dreamy hollandaise with smoked salmon for £9.95.

The dish was phenomenal, the eggs were fresh and full of flavour, and the smoked salmon was of the finest quality. I get really upset when restaurants serve cheap smoke salmon, this was perfect.

The other main dish was the Headmasters Big Breakfast including Cumberland sausage, bacon, fried eggs, sautéed potatoes, mushrooms in sunflower tapenade, TSH beans and sourdough toast for £10.75.

Honestly the portion was HUGE, and definitely one for someone with a large appetite. In terms of moneys worth, this was a very generous dish which we were super impressed with.

The overall restaurant has a relaxed nice atmosphere, the buzz of chatter makes this a lovely weekend brunch spot. I have been here for boozy brunch too on a Saturday and whatever the occasion this place works.
