Decadent desserts at London’s Savoy

The Savoy, a luxurious five star hotel, is located in the heart of London within walking distance of Charing Cross Station. Celebrated as one of London’s landmarks, I finally got the chance to venture inside for an evening and it was fabulous! This was a delightful experience that I thoroughly enjoyed and had to tell you about.

Walking up to the front doors, I felt very sophisticated. I have passed the Savoy many times and always wondered what it would look like inside, and tonight I was about to find out.

From the moment I walked inside, I was surrounded with elegance and charm. From the wonderfully tiled floors to the beautiful art on the walls, everything is grand and lavish, with fresh flowers throughout and pristine walk ways.

After slowly walking through this stunning walk way, we were guided to our table in the Thames Foyer dining area. This room is known for its bird cage center piece, and I was lucky enough to be sat within it, totally absorbed in to the whole atmosphere of the place.

This evening was about cocktails and desserts, and we were presented with a temptation wheel where there was a wide selection ranging from light and refreshing to pure indulgent. They recommenced cocktails to match the desserts but you can also select the one that takes your fancy – perfect!

The two cocktails myself and my partner selected were:

Winding RoadBacardi Ocho, Ruby Port, Coffee maple, chocolate bitters
This one was indulgent, intense and deep.

Diamonds and PearlsBombay Gin, Jasmine Cocchi, Raspberry and Cucumber
This cocktails was light, fresh and fruity and is the one pictured with flower petals.

Whilst sipping on these delicious cocktails, the desserts arrived. Wait until you see these… If you could eat them through the screen, this would possibly be the most scrumptious thing you would have ever tasted.

The first dessert is an indulgent chocolate pod:

ChocolatUnique textures of 63% ‘Gran Blanco’ dark chocolate, served in an edible chocolate pod.

The second dessert was a medium dessert, so had a little more substance without being too heavy:

Peach Melba LegacyVanilla foam, fresh raspberries, poached pears and brown sugar.

Just look at the incredible sugar globe! Breaking into that was so exciting, it felt like a moment of magic as I had no idea what to expect inside. Once I broke into this divine dish, I don’t think I said a word for a good five minutes.

I honestly can’t tell you enough how good these were. The chocolate one was pure heaven, but very very rich. I love pudding but not that much, so the light sugar globe was ideal.

The picture below just highlights how absorbed I was, for those moments it was just me and my incredible tasty goodness.

Take a peak at the menu here.

Once the food and drinks had been successfully consumed, I could take in the surroundings once more of this lavish restaurant.

Overall a brilliant evening with fantastic food and drinks. The eloquence and beauty of the hotel interior really gives you a feel of a life of luxury. We were lucky enough to have been given this experience as a gift, but I would strongly recommend this as an evening out either as  a girly get-together or a romantic date.
